Aeronautica Militare: urgent flight from Lamezia Terme to Florence for a young woman in danger of life

The urgent medical transport was carried out with a Falcon 900 of the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force.

During the morning of today, 25 October, the emergency medical transport carried out by a crew of a Falcon 900 of the 31 ° Stormo of the Italian Air Force that took off, on the Lamezia Terme - Florence route, was completed for transfer a 17-year-old girl in imminent danger of her life.

The request for transport, as expected in these cases, arrived from the Prefecture of Catanzaro to the Situation Room at the Summit of the Air Squad Command, the operations room of the Air Force which has among its tasks that of arranging and managing this type of missions through the activation of one of the aircraft that the Armed Force keeps ready 24 hours a day, in various bases, for this kind of need.

The Falcon 900 took off from Ciampino military airport, home of the 31 ° Stormo, towards Lamezia Terme airport. Here the young patient was embarked, together with a doctor and one of the young woman's parents, on the military aircraft which immediately left for Florence. 

After landing at Florence airport, which took place at around 13:30, the young woman was transferred by ambulance to be admitted to the Meyer Pediatric Hospital Foundation where she will receive the necessary medical care.

Missions of this type require maximum timeliness and the Air Force flight departments are available to the community 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with vehicles and crews capable of operating, even in complex weather conditions, to ensure urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, but also of organs, medical teams or ambulances.
