Eni: in Florence the Enjoy car sharing fleet also becomes electric

In Florence, the fleet of Enjoy, Eni's car sharing, also becomes electric with the introduction of the XEV YOYO city cars set up for battery swapping. The novelty was presented today at Palazzo Vecchio in the presence of Dario Nardella, Mayor of Florence, and Stefano Giorgetti, Councilor for Great Infrastructures, Mobility and Local Public Transport of the Municipality of Florence, who spoke together with Giuseppe Ricci, General Manager Energy Evolution of Eni , and Lou Tik, Founder and CEO of XEV.

In Florence, through the Enjoy app, it is now possible to rent one of the 50 brand new XEV YOYOs in an unmistakable lime green color that join the fleet already available in the city, consisting of 100 vehicles. Thanks to the agreement between Eni and XEV, a car manufacturer founded in Turin in 2018, the advantages of electric mobility over urban life are combined with the convenience of free floating car sharing, which allows you to start and end rentals anywhere within the Enjoy coverage area, with no predefined pick-up or drop-off points. In addition, Enjoy takes care of refueling: the XEV YOYO city cars allow customers to move around in total freedom because they are always available with a battery charge of more than 30%.

"We welcome Enjoy electric car sharing to Florence - said the mayor Dario Nardella - Eni's sustainable city cars are a further and important contribution to making mobility in the city more sustainable and are fully part of the policies launched by our administration to reduce smog and more generally in Florence's commitment to achieve 'goal of zero climate impact cities by 2030. "

"We are very satisfied with this new Enjoy initiative which has decided to enrich the car sharing offer in Florence with new fully electric vehicles - added the councilor for Mobility Stefano Giorgetti -. As an Administration, we immediately focused on sharing mobility and today in Florence we have a shared vehicle fleet that includes cars, bicycles, scooters and scooters and their use translates into a reduction in the number of private vehicles on the roads".

"Eni is pleased that the Municipality of Florence has enthusiastically welcomed the novelty of the Enjoy electric car sharing, which was recently launched in Turin and Bologna”- declared Giuseppe Ricci, Eni's General Manager of Energy Evolution -. "Car sharing contributes to making urban mobility more sustainable and improving the opportunities and ease of movement for citizens. In cities where they have already been introduced, these CO2-neutral city cars on the road have proven their potential in the field of micro-mobility, allowing Enjoy customers to rent more frequently for shorter distances. This is also a contribution to the holistic approach that distinguishes Eni in the path towards the Net Zero goal by 2050: we recently announced that we are also studying the possible construction of a biorefinery in Livorno, to produce biofuels for the use of non-electrifying vehicles, such as heavy transport and jet aircraft, and thus increase the availability and variety of decarbonised products. "

"XEV is proud that its electric cars become part of the Enjoy fleet in Florence, after the recent positive feedback received in Turin and Bologna. XEV YOYO cars, 100% electric and equipped with interchangeable batteries, in Eni car sharing have proved to be a solution to meet the growing demand for more sustainable urban mobility. Together with the Municipality of Florence and Eni, we are taking a further step towards improving the sharing of urban spaces, also through intelligent mobility”- declared the Founder and CEO of XEV, Lou Tik.

Since its arrival in Florence in 2014, with around 1 million rentals in the city, Enjoy has made car sharing a popular alternative mobility solution to the use of private vehicles, with benefits on traffic decongestion and on the quality of life of those who lives and works in the city. The use of Enjoy vehicles in Florence allows advantages such as free parking on the blue lines and in the parking areas reserved for residents, and free access to the city's ZTLs.

In Italy Enjoy has over 1 million customers and more than 29 million rentals made from 2013 to today. With a total fleet of 2.500 vehicles, Enjoy is also present in the cities of Turin, Bologna, Milan and Rome; in Milan and Rome, electric car sharing with XEV YOYO city cars will be introduced in the coming months.

How Enjoy works

To rent Enjoy vehicles, you need to download the app available in the Android, iOS and Huawei stores. After registration, it is possible to search, view and book the vehicles available in the surroundings or in the area of interest, or rent an Enjoy vehicle located along your route by entering the license plate number and the code visible on the windscreen in the app. Once the vehicle is reached and unlocked, the entire rental takes place via the smartphone, until arrival at the destination. At the end of the trip, you can view the summary of the expense incurred for the rental.

All Enjoy vehicle rental rates are available online. For the XEV YOYO city cars, as for the other cars in the fleet, the rate is € 0,29 / min with a fixed cost of € 1,00 for unlocking the vehicle at the start of the rental.
