Afghanistan: violent clash between police and Taliban - 21 dead

According to the Pajhwok news agency, a violent clash between Afghan and Taliban security forces in southern Helmand province caused 12 deaths of police officers and nine militants while other 9 agents were injured.

The agency, citing reliable sources, pointed out that it was a coordinated attack directed against a police checkpoint in the Nawa district that began on the night between Thursday and Friday.

The news, though with a different victim budget, was also confirmed by Helmand's governor,  Hayatullah Hayat, and the Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi.
