The Farnesina is talking about corruption

As part of the Italian G7 Presidency, the Farnesina will host today a seminar on the topic of measuring corruption, organized in collaboration with Istat, Anac, the Ministry of Justice and the Bank of Italy. In the words of Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano, "how to measure corruption reliably, to correctly frame the image of a country - especially when the use of perception-based rankings translates into forms of state ratings - and to refine the policies of prevention and contrast, has become a crucial topic of the debate in the main multilateral anti-corruption forums, such as G20, G7, OECD, Uncac and the Council of Europe ”. For Alfano, “the attempt to define composite indicators is also part of the international community's commitment to measuring progress in achieving the sustainable development goals, of which the fight against corruption is an integral part”. The opening speeches will be entrusted to the president of Istat, Giorgio Alleva, the director for economic development of the World Bank, Shantayanan Devarajan, and the director for legal affairs of the OECD, Nicola Bonucci. The conclusions will be drawn by the president of the National Anti-corruption Authority, Raffaele Cantone. The seminar will be divided into two round tables: the first will try to define which dimensions and areas must be considered in order to measure the phenomenon in a realistic and comprehensive way; the second will address the measurement of the risk of corruption from the perspective of anti-corruption prevention strategies and plans. Senior officials and experts from the G7 countries will be present, including some national anti-corruption authorities and international organizations active on the subject, as well as representatives of the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, businesses, legal circles, scholars and civil society.
