Anas, summer mobility: second weekend back from holidays

Red dot traffic for the second August counter-exodus weekend. From today morning, traffic is expected to increase steadily along the Anas network (FS Italiane Group). In particular, Viabilità Italia provides a red sticker starting today and for the rest of the weekend, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August, with increasing movements towards the main routes. We remind you that the complete overview of the stamps for the summer is available on the Anas website (https://www.stradeanas.it/it/piani-interventi) and on the Viabilità Italia website (https://www.poliziadistato.it /statics/08/calendario-traffic-intenso-2022.pdf).

The sections involved are the main road and motorway arteries, in the direction of the northern regions and towards the large urban centers, but also for the last departures in the direction of the holiday resorts, in particular along the Adriatic, Tyrrhenian and Ionian ridges and at the passes border in the direction of France, Slovenia and Croatia, and for the numerous local movements.

The consistent flow of traffic in the vicinity of large cities is expected above all from late Sunday afternoon, coinciding with weekend returns. Tomorrow, Saturday 27 August, from 8.00 to 16.00, and Sunday 28 August, from 7.00 to 22.00, there is a ban on the transit of heavy vehicles.

The traffic will concern in particular: the A2 “Autostrada del Mediterraneo” which crosses Campania, Basilicata and Calabria; state roads 106 Jonica and 18 Tirrena Inferiore in Calabria; the A19 Palermo-Catania and A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorways in Sicily; the state road 131 Carlo Felice in Sardinia; the state road 148 Pontina nel Lazio, a particularly busy artery which together with the SS7 “Appia” ensures connections between Rome and the tourist resorts of lower Lazio; the E45 itinerary (SS675 and SS3 bis) which involves Umbria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and connects the north east with central Italy; the main roads SS1 Aurelia (Lazio, Tuscany and Liguria), SS16 Adriatica (Puglia, Molise, Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto).

Finally, in the north, the RA13 and RA14 motorway junctions in Friuli-Venezia Giulia towards the border crossings, the SS36 "of Lake Como and Spluga" in Lombardy, the SS45 of Val Trebbia in Liguria, the SS26 "of Valle D'Aosta ”And the SS309“ Romea ”between Emilia-Romagna and Veneto and the SS 51“ di Alemagna ”in Veneto.

With the aim of facilitating travel and reducing inconvenience for users and in anticipation of the increase in vehicular flows, Anas has taken steps to remove, starting from 8 July and until 4 September, over 500 construction sites, more than half of those previously active (over a thousand), with the aim of offering a more comfortable and safe journey, not only for short and medium-range trips, but also for long-range ones. The reduction of Anas road construction sites is part of the Plan agreed and promoted by the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility (Mims). For the situation of the immovable construction sites, Anas invites travelers to consult the stradeanas.it website in the Viability / Intervention plans section (link www.stradeanas.it/piani-interventi) before leaving.

Under the supervision h. 24 of the National Situation Room there are 21 territorial Operating Rooms (h24 and h12) including that of the A2 “Autostrada del Mediterraneo”, which works alongside the Traffic Police. On the road and motorway network, on a shift basis, there are about 2.500 employees for surveillance, emergency response, assistance to users, coordination of technical and management activities. The staff has over 2.000 vehicles at their disposal, of which 1.100 are equipped with cameras, 1.234 variable message panels and 6230 fixed cameras.

Tips for a safe journey

Check your vehicle - Before leaving for a trip have your vehicle checked, especially tire pressure, lighting efficiency, oil and water levels.

Travel informed - Prepare yourself by consulting the weather and the calendar with critical days, in which travel times may be longer than normal: knowing this will help you face the journey in a more peaceful way and evaluate any alternative routes.

Don't drive after drinking - No alcohol: if you drink you don't drive and if you drive you don't drink. The intake of alcoholic substances causes serious effects on the human body, which are particularly insidious for those who drive a vehicle, affecting the quickness of reflexes and the state of alertness.

Do not drive while under the influence of drugs - Drugs change your psycho-physical condition. In addition to breaking the rules, you put yourself and others in danger while driving.

Put the belt on and secure the children in the car seats - Before leaving, put on your seat belt and have it fastened to other passengers, including those in the rear seats; up to 1,50 meters in height, it ensures children with child seats and adapters.

Do not exceed the speed limits - How much truth is there in a popular saying “He who goes slowly, goes healthy and goes far”! Don't run, so as not to take risks

Travel on the right - Always drive on the free lane furthest to the right, use the fast lane only for overtaking and re-enter as soon as possible on the one you were on.

Keep a safe distance - Always keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front, it will allow you to have enough space to stop, in case of emergency, without risk of rear-end collisions.

Stop if you are tired - At the first signs of tiredness or sleep, stop: the only system that will allow you to recover your psychophysical energies and continue your journey safely is to make a stop, even short, in the service area.

Never get distracted while driving - There are three types of distraction to avoid when driving a vehicle: visual (not looking at the road), cognitive (not paying attention to driving) and manual (having your hands busy).

Anas remember that when you drive, Drive and Stop! No distractions, no alcohol, no drugs for your safety and that of others (Guidaebasta.it). For informed mobility, the evolution of the traffic situation in real time can also be consulted on all smartphones and tablets, thanks to the “GO” application by Anas, available free of charge in the “App store” and in the “Play store”. The “Pronto Anas” customer service can be reached by calling the free toll-free number 800.841.148.

Anas also recalls the high risk of fires: “The street is not an ashtray. Respect the environment, save your trip ".
