🎤 Revolutionary idea: App to recognize the differentiated one

An App to help citizens recognize the waste bin to be sorted. A smart choice adopted by the Municipality of Mondragone, in the province of Caserta: it is called Junker, and it is a service that recognizes what the user is throwing and explains how to do it according to local legislation. An App usable by citizens, who can install it on android or apple smartphones, so simple as to be revolutionary, certainly in line with the philosophy of smart cities: just scan the barcode of the product or packaging, and Junker recognizes it thanks to an internal database of over 1 million products and indicates their breakdown into raw materials and the bins to which they are intended.

Junker is also useful to extricate oneself in more complicated situations, such as those of paper bags with plastic windows, or coffee packages, PVC bottles, or the well-known Tetrapak, which in some regions is disposed of together with paper and in others with plastic. Also in this case, the 'in progress' database will intervene and is updated daily thanks to the contribution of users: if the scanned product is not recognized, the user can transmit the product photo to the app developers and receive the response in time real, while the reference is added to the existing ones. Junker, the only app in Europe that has met with considerable success spreading rapidly throughout Italy, is available free of charge for all, and also gives the Municipality the possibility of communicating many other information to citizens, such as the location of the collection points, routes, door-to-door calendars, indications for special waste, signs of deterioration, etc., also to avoid penalties for violating the rules on recycling.
