The Carabinieri of Colleferro (Rome) arrested a 30-year-old man held responsible for the jewelry robbery carried out on 20 June last. As part of an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Velletri - PM Dr. Bufano - the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Compagnia di Colleferro have executed an order for precautionary custody in prison - issued by the GIP of the Court of Velletri, Dr. Natalia Catena - against a 30-year-old Romanian citizen, for the crimes of robbery, receiving stolen goods, theft and resistance to a public official.
Investigations took place following a robbery occurred in the late morning of June 20, 2022 to the detriment of a jewelry store, located in the center of Colleferro where, in full opening hours to the public, a man with a face partially covered by an anti-covid mask and sunglasses, driving an off-road car used as a "ram", had broken through the shop window by taking possession of the money present in the cashier and the jewels kept in the shattered window, all this before the astonished and frightened eyes of the clerk on duty and some passers-by.
The man ran away with the same car and after a daring chase with a patrol of the Radiomobile of the Compagnia di Velletri, activated for research, near the Pratoni del Vivaro he came out of the roadway abandoning the car with its effects personal inside.
The man first went away on foot through the meadows and then continued his escape with another car removed near a riding school, making him lose track.
The investigations carried out by Carabinieri of Colleferro, in their complexity, thanks to the precious "collaboration" of the people who had witnessed the event as well as the meticulous analysis of the images of the video surveillance systems present throughout the area, made it possible to reconstruct the event but above all to acquire the very serious indications of guilt against the Romanian citizen.
The man was traced yesterday and translated, at the end of the formalities, at the prison of Velletri, where he will remain at the disposal of the AG, to make the interrogation as a guarantee both for the robbery consumed on 20.06.2022 and for the receipt of the off-road vehicle used as a battering ram to shatter the shop window, which turned out to be the object of theft that took place the previous day in Cassino (FR), as well as for the resistance to pu against the carabinieri who chased it and for the theft of the second car used to escape.
The proceeding is in the preliminary investigation phase, so the suspects must be considered innocent until the final sentence.
