In Fuengirola - district of Marbella - the Spanish National Police arrested a 38-year-old Italian citizen, who was untraceable on 29 July u.sc. from the domicile where he was serving the precautionary measure of house arrest and against which the MAE provision - European Arrest Warrant had been issued in recent days.
The man was arrested on June 14 in Brescia by the State Police as accused of having "manufactured a deadly device of an incendiary nature composed of primers and gunpowder modified to increase its explosive potential" as well as "for causing two explosions followed by violent fire, capable of determining the collapse of one's own apartment. In the circumstance, the same had been hospitalized for the injuries sustained by the explosion and, once discharged, after a period spent in a prison he was placed under house arrest.
In the aftermath of the "escape" of the aforementioned, the Service for the Contrast of Extremism and Internal Terrorism together with the Digos of Brescia launched a targeted investigative action aimed at finding him, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Brescia, also with the activation of interception services authorized by the local judicial authority which provided information on the possible presence of the fugitive in Spain.
The Interpol circuit was therefore promptly activated through the International Police Cooperation Service as well as the Spanish liaison officer seconded to the Central Directorate of the Prevention Police who provided an essential contribution in the research activities.
The continuous operational connection ensured made it possible to identify the in the Andalusian town of Fuengirola, district of Marbella, where he was hiding in an apartment rented in the first days of August.
The fugitive, blocked by the agents of the Comisaria General de Informacion inside a commercial establishment, opposed vigorous resistance against the police officers - one of whom was injured - who, in the circumstance, also fired some gunshots up in the air.
The police operation was made possible by the synergistic investigative action carried out by the Italian and Spanish State Police, consolidated for years in a context of international collaboration.
