The State Police of Perugia has routed a gang composed of five Romanian citizens specialized in the theft of excavators, tractors and other means of work.

The criminal group had been raging for months, and had hit not only in the province of Perugia, but in much of central Italy.

The investigative activity, conducted by the policemen of the mobile team, has in fact allowed to charge criminals over ten thefts, consumed or attempted, of trucks, excavators, tractors and other means of work.

The investigators patiently reconstructed the various raids of the Romanians, recovering in the course of the investigation a total value of more than one million euros, which the band intended to transport and resell in Romania.

The modus operandi of the thieves was characterized by the carrying out of targeted preventative inspections at the targeted companies and for the subsequent consumption of theft always at night time.

Normally, considering that their objective was to take over excavators, tractors and other means of work, in the hours immediately preceding the shots they stole an articulated lorry which they then used to load and take away the stolen goods.

The policemen, collected sufficient elements against the gang, carried out a blitz in Rome in the early hours of the morning, where all five criminals lived, and carried out against four of them, with the collaboration of the colleagues of the Roman Flying Squad , a decree of arrest of a suspect of crime, for multiple and continuous theft; the fifth Romanian, who had just arrived from Romania with an articulated lorry ready to load the stolen vehicles, was reported on the loose.
