The Carabinieri of the provincial command of Monza Brianza and the Guardia di Finanza of the provincial command of Varese arrest 43 people for criminal association aimed at corruption and bribery, including politicians, public administrators and entrepreneurs
From the early hours of dawn, a vast operation involving 250 military of the Provincial Police of the Guardia di Finanza of Varese is underway in the provinces of Milan, Varese, Monza and Brianza, Pavia, Novara, Alessandria, Turin and Asti. and the Carabinieri of Monza Brianza, with the support of the territorially competent departments, which are implementing a personal precautionary measure against 43 people (12 in jail, 16 under house arrest, 3 under the obligation to stay and 12 at obligation to present to the judicial police), held in various capacities as being responsible for criminal association aggravated by having favored a mafia-type association, and aimed at carrying out multiple crimes of corruption, illegal financing of political parties, disturbed freedom of the proceedings of contractor choice, false invoicing for non-existent operations, self-laundering and abuse of office.
The provisions, issued by the GIP of the Court of Milan (Dr. Raffaella Mascarino), at the request of the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office - District Anti-Mafia Directorate (Deputy Prosecutor Dr. Alessandra Dolci and the Deputy Prosecutors Dr. Silvia Bonardi, Dr. Adriano Scudieri and Dott. Luigi Furno), at the outcome of investigative activity developed by the Compagnia della Guardia di Finanza of Busto Arsizio (VA) and by the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Monza, they revealed the existence of two criminal associations, active in the provinces of Milan and Varese, made up of political exponents, public administrators and entrepreneurs, committed to committing more corruption offenses for acts contrary to official duties and disturbed freedom of charms, aimed at the division and awarding of public contracts. The associative crime referred to in art. 416 cp has been objected to 9 of the 95 persons as a whole investigated.
