The State Police, delegated by the District Attorney of the Republic of Catania, carried out the precautionary measure of house arrest, issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations at the Court of Catania, against a 62-year-old as a serious suspect, in the state of acts and in relation to the trial phase that has not yet allowed the intervention of the defenses, of the crime of ill-treatment aggravated by the fact of having been committed against the elderly or people with disabilities within a health and social structure located in a municipality of 'hinterland of Etna.
The investigation, conducted by the policemen of the Flying Squad - "Section III Crimes against the person, to the detriment of minors and sexual crimes" - which allowed the Public Prosecutor to request and obtain the restrictive measure in question, stems from a complaint filed by a family member who had had the opportunity to learn and find mistreatment of a relative to whom the emergency room physicians of a city hospital diagnosed "... vertebral fracture", curable in 30 days.
The subsequent investigative investigations, coordinated by the specialized pool of the Public Prosecutor's Office, made it possible to verify that the woman, with the role of director within the aforementioned social-health structure, in addition to having mistreated the victim, would have carried out similar conduct against of other elderly people subjected to his authority and identified during the short but intense investigation carried out, also supported by technical principals.
From the investigations it emerged that the suspect would have hit the guests with slaps and shoves, resorting to insults, gratuitous humiliations and even physical violence and when some elderly guest, housed in the structure, dared to disobey the rules would be punished with a ban on lunch with others or he would be forced to stay in bed, without breakfast.
Basically, with her conduct, the suspect would have generated a state of prostration, awe and suffering in the people entrusted to her care, particularly vulnerable by age and also by the circumstance of being far from their families.
On one occasion, after an elderly woman entered the kitchen of the structure, going to the sink to drink some water, the suspect would begin to collect the water with both hands, used as a container. current, and twice he would have poured the water, which had accumulated in the meantime, on the guest's head, shouting at her against phrases of the following tenor "you were born rude, you say that you are a lady, but you were never a lady ... Never ! " and again “I have seen rude females, but not like you… .the Lord is thinking about it, maybe the Lord would think about it! I have seen rude ones, but not like you (...) you have all the shapes of an animal you ... all precise, you have all the shapes of an animal ".
The 62-year-old, in execution of the aforementioned restrictive measure issued by the GIP, was subjected to house arrest.
