Ordinary competition of childhood and primary, the numbers of the Ministry of Education

School, over 76 thousand applications for participation in the ordinary childhood and primary competition, more than 430 thousand for first and second grade secondary schools

Over 76 thousand applications for participation in the ordinary childhood and primary competition, more than 430 thousand for first and second grade secondary schools. These are the data that emerge from the survey conducted by the Ministry of Education after the closing of the times for submitting applications: the deadline was set for 31 July.

“The demand for participation is very high - notes the Minister of Education Lucia Azzolina -. An easily explained fact: there was a lot of anticipation because the competitions have been taking place in fits and starts for too long. We must ensure that there is better planning for the future: in a normal country, competitions must take place every two years at the latest. Also for this reason, as a government, we strongly wanted to restart the competition machine, banning 78 thousand places between childhood, primary and secondary schools. But we must look further, giving certainty to those who teach precariously about their future work and to those who want to start teaching on the path to follow. Teaching - continues Azzolina - must return to being an attractive and respected profession. We have to pay our teachers more and create certain paths to get to the professorship. Also reversing some trends, such as the one that sees few men approach teaching in primary and kindergarten, as the data on applications for participation tell us ”.
