North Korea: Song Tao sent by Xi Jinping meets Ri Su-yong, head of Pyongyang's foreign policy

Song Tao, the special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, met today in Pyongyang, Ri Su-yong, one of the vice presidents of the Workers' Party, former Foreign Minister and currently the highest official in Korea's foreign policy of the North.

According to the official Kcna agency, the two spoke about the Korean peninsula and regional and bilateral affairs. The meeting took place in the aftermath of what Song had with Choe Ryong-hae, the closest collaborator of the leader Kim Jong-un, served to agree on the promotion of the development of "traditional and friendly relations" between the two countries.

The visit of the special envoy, head of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party, came a few days after US President Donald Trump's visit to Beijing, who asked Beijing to increase pressure on Pyongyang to push Kim Joung-un to stop the its nuclear and ballistic missile development plans.
