Libya: "Italy, do not open the consulate in Benghazi, you are not welcome"

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on the reopening of the consulate in Benghazi, scheduled for yesterday 28 April, said: "The Libyan Foreign Ministry has asked to postpone the opening of the consulate due to the ongoing conflict". Sources of farnesina say that there are several anti-Italian demonstrations and there is a certain resentment towards our country. Haftar himself asked to withdraw our troops from the Misurata hospital, being no longer welcome.

Apparently the Presidential Council has made it known that the opening of Benghazi would be seen as a support for Haftar and a hostile act against the GNA, a position that Sarraj himself would have reiterated in the telephone conversation with Count two days ago.

Italy has lost on all fronts. It is internationally isolated and the balance of Conte has made us increasingly weak. The Italian premier from China has not sided with any of the parties on the field. "We are with the Libyan people," he commented during the appointment in Asia. He even offered medical help to Haftar's wounded, trying to remedy the cesarini area. The result? Enhance the distrust and criticism of the only government recognized by the UN, that of Al Serraj.

On the ground, Haftar's slow advance towards Tripoli is recorded with the help of Egypt, France, the Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Many argue that Russia is also behind the supply of weapons and ammunition to Haftar's militias. Recently Donald Trump even phoned Haftar, offering his support, displacing the US State Department and allies among other things.

The GNA claims that Haftar covers military defeats by bombing with foreign aircraft, both Emirates and Egypt according to the evidence transmitted by the GNA to the UN mission in Libya (Unsmil). 300 They have been the dead since the start of the Libyan conflict, among them 90 are minors and women, while 1700 are the civil and military wounded in the attacks in Tripoli. 42 women were victims of 40.000 violence are the displaced people of the conflict, among them the 50% are women, the 25% are minors.
