Up to € 1,4 billion from the Ministry of Tourism, CDP and the banking sector to support tourism businesses

An agreement was finalized between the Ministry, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and ABI for subsidized loans in favor of energy redevelopment, environmental sustainability and digital innovation for the structures of the sector

Redevelop and enhance tourism businesses by financing investment programs in energy transition, environmental sustainability and digital innovation to make the sector more attractive and competitive both in Italy and abroad. With this objective, the Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia, the CEO of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) Dario Scannapieco and the General Manager of the Italian Banking Association (ABI) Giovanni Sabatini, signed an agreement governing the granting of loans. subsidized from the 'Revolving Fund for Supporting Businesses and Investments in Research' (FRI), in line with the aims of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The total resources could reach a total value of 1,4 billion.

The concessions are provided in the form of a capital contribution, granted to the beneficiary companies by the Ministry of Tourism using 180 million of PNRR resources. To these are added the subsidized loans, granted by CDP under the FRI, for a total amount of up to 600 million, alongside loans of the same amount and duration (up to 15 years) disbursed by the banking sector at market conditions. For a total, in fact, of almost 1,4 billion.

The incentives may be recognized to hotel companies, to open-air accommodation facilities and those carrying out agritourism activities, to companies in the recreational, exhibition and congress sector, including bathing establishments, spas, tourist ports and theme parks.

The investment programs must have an amount of eligible expenses between 500 thousand and 10 million, consistent with the Community DNSH (Do No Significant Harm) principle of not causing any significant damage to the environment.

With the signing of the Agreement and the subsequent operational involvement of the banking sector, it will be possible to initiate the process of submitting applications for access to the measure by companies, starting from the date that will be defined with a subsequent provision of the Ministry of Tourism.
