Defense: Aeronautics and Leonardo together for innovation with Artificial Intelligence

An in-depth study of the enormous potential of Artificial Intelligence applied to aeronautical systems will be at the center of the event to be held in Florence on the next 11 and 12 December, at the headquarters of the Institute of Aeronautical Military Sciences.

AIRtificial Intelligence, this is the name of the initiative, it is a technological marathon of 48 hours in which Leonardo e air Force they will facilitate the meeting with the best realities in the sector, made up of start-ups, developers, researchers and universities, in an Open Innovation approach. The initiative also sees the involvement of Oracle which has made available the suite of its Cloud services including infrastructure, technological platforms and application software.

This is the second Hackathon created by the Air Force together with Leonardo on the theme of 4.0 logistics, after "Airathon" in 2018. A cultural revolution already underway which places highly topical issues at the center of attention, such as robotics, automation, augmented reality and blockchain, which the Air Force and Leonardo have long placed at the basis of their innovation policies technological.

A unique opportunity for the nine competing teams, protagonists and drivers of the initiative, ready to develop virtual assistance solutions aimed at optimizing maintenance and training interventions applicable to aeronautical systems. A concrete opportunity at the same time, which confirms the commitment of Aeronautica Militare and Leonardo to the creation of an environment of sharing ideas, experiences and different skills able to favor the knowledge of that technological and cultural revolution that drives change , even in the civilized world.

The December 12 on the final day will include a time dedicated to the press, in which Leonardo's CTIO will take part, Roberto Cingolani, the Scientific Director of the Italian Institute of Technology, Giorgio Metta, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General of the Air Team Alberto Rosso and Oracle Italy's Tehnology Country Leader, Alessandro Ippolito.
