(by Michele Marseille) It is useless to hide that the week that is about to end, despite the quarantine now almost at the end, and this annoying Covid19 period, has been full of satisfactions and results.
The reconfirmation of the CEO ENI, Claudio Descalzi, for a further mandate, the whole national and international press whom I thank in helping and supporting us in providing news and explanations on what is happening to Oil, in this delicate moment, and how general dynamics are affecting the energy markets.
Personally, apart from the epidemic situation involving everyone's mood and concern, I cannot consider this negative moment.
I don't want to use rhetoric that in a negative moment there is always the positive side, but it is right that if the positive exists, I feel a responsibility towards the sector that I represent and with many with whom I work and they give me confidence and trust in first to FederPetroli Italia, to share this wave of positivity.
This period led the companies to a more intense confrontation, the companies are made of people, it was possible, by force of circumstances, to interact and compare more and always for the situation, the entrepreneurial minds gave the best to maintain and manage companies in this bad moment and with one thing in particular: creating new businesses and new ideas.
I had the opportunity, obviously more calmly and not with the daily frenzy that invests everyone in normality, to compare myself and organize future oil or better energy developments with third parties and the new actions that will be on the starting line as soon as the institutions internationals will kick off this imminent reopening of the games.
Let's not forget Libya and the investments, the tenders, the meetings we are interested in and we left on standby a few months ago, the new developments in the Arabian Peninsula with the Middle East today more confident in this small and beautiful country called Italy, and of course National Oil & Gas.
I am talking about Italian oil and gas and many forms of energy that can be exploited in Italy, but that a wrong National Energy Strategy (SEN) involves a lack of work for many oil-related companies that are forced to pursue other markets in other countries, and with sadness and regret, not being able to exercise their professionalism and know-how in Italy.
This will be one of the objectives shared by many, and for FederPetroli Italia it will be a clear and defined mission that can no longer wait, to restart the Italian energy supply chain.
And given that today there are certainly more consolidated relationships than years ago, we have also experienced growth, and companies have refined different approaches in the market, today ENI can and should be our 'Energy Mother' who, by the hand, will have to represent our workhorse to restart the impressive and considerable armature of oil and gas in Italy.
There must be everyone's commitment, the job of an organization like FederPetroli Italia is to speak, discuss, mediate linguistically, make people understand and bring to the attention of the institutions and local communities what energy is in Italy, a word that is used but not known.
This does not mean going against a green policy, on the contrary, it means joining the energy policies for the improvement of a country.
It is a shame that we are talking about Libya, Saudi Arabia, the North Sea, Egypt and many other countries for important developments and construction sites and in our Italy, energy does not exist, not only, we are one of the countries in the world where the energy bill of Italian families is among the highest.
We are a country rich in mineral resources, rich in energy resources, sea basins, morphology of some areas rich in hydrocarbons, natural elements that are also indispensable for other forms of energy, but we do not take advantage of all this.
Many energy companies have fled Italy, but many have also arrived, and have invested their capital. British, Americans, Middle East, Lebanese, Greeks and many others have invested, have produced GDP, have produced wealth and employment for our country, we have even more responsibility and national politics.
This is the right time, and not only with ENI, but the oil industry and international companies are close to this Italy that will have to produce more energy.
The action of the next weeks will be to define with companies the most suitable and efficient road maps to carry out this operational development, we will define the logistics and the oil and gas pipelines, the infrastructures, the exploitation of resources on land and at sea , refining, storage, distribution and financial plans for fair regulation.
Italian Oil & Gas is a great untapped wealth, it will be the task of a great and determined team to bring more energy to our country, but the commitment must be for everyone.
