Eni announces the completion of the Bhit Photovoltaic Plant in Pakistan

Eni, through its subsidiary Eni New Energy Pakistan, today inaugurated the Bhit photovoltaic plant, Eni's first solar project in Pakistan. The installation, built near the Bhit gas plant, provides green energy to the upstream site operating in an offgrid configuration.

The Bhit photovoltaic plant, with a peak capacity of 10 MW, produces approximately 20 GWh / year (Gigawatt-hour). The energy produced is used directly by the industrial site, reducing gas consumption and avoiding the emission of approximately 144.000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere for the duration of the plant's life cycle. The photovoltaic plant is fully integrated with the current power generation system of the Bhit gas treatment site, ensuring the optimization of operating costs by switching off one of the gas turbines currently in operation.

Thanks to the use of existing synergies, Eni reached the time-to-market in a short time, starting the 6 plant months after the Final Investment Decision (FID).

The Bhit photovoltaic plant, in addition to adding value to traditional industrial activities in Pakistan, further confirms Eni's commitment to an increasingly low-carbon scenario, in which renewable energy is a fundamental and integrated element of its mix energy.

Eni is present in Pakistan from 2000 and operates in the Upstream sector with activities concentrated in the permits of Bhit / Badhra (Eni operator 40%), Kadanwari (Eni operator 18,42%), Latif (Eni 33,3%), Sawan (Eni 23,68% ) Zamzama (Eni 17,75%) and Miano (Eni 15,16%). Eni currently operates in three offshore blocks and is also active in the Midstream sector in the country.
