The use of antibiotics in Italy. AIFA 2018 Report

On Monday 25 November, at 13.45 pm at the Roma Eventi Trevi Congress Center (Piazza della Pilotta, 4), the Italian Medicines Agency presents the National Report "The use of antibiotics in Italy - Year 2018".

The Report, edited by AIFA's National Observatory on the Use of Medicines (OsMed), is one of the actions envisaged by the National Contrast Plan of the Antimicrobial-Resistance (PNCAR) 2017-2020 and contains analyzes on the use of antibiotics under an approved care scheme and by public health facilities with a focus on consumption in hospital care. It offers a description of the consumption borne by the citizen, that is of the antibiotics reimbursed by the National Health Service and purchased privately by the patients. In addition to a classification of consumption, expenditure and exposure in the general population, it presents insights into the pediatric population and into specific patient subgroups. A focus is dedicated to the indicators of prescriptive appropriateness in the field of general medicine, developed by the Italian Society of General Medicine and Primary Care (SIMG).
