Eni through Vår Energi announces a new significant oil discovery in the offshore of the Norwegian North Sea

Eni through Vår Energy, a company jointly owned by Eni (69,85%) and Hitec Vision (31,15%) announces a new significant oil discovery in the PL 090 / 090I license, located in the northern part of the North Sea. The discovery took place through the drilling of well 31 / 2-22 S on the exploration prospect called Blasto Main.

Vår Energi holds a 25% stake in the license, Equinor is the operator with 45%, Idemitsu and Neptune Energy each have a 15% stake.

The exploration well is located approximately 7,5km southwest of the nearest Fram field production template and 12km north of the Troll C platform at a water depth of 349m. The well was drilled to a depth of 2.282 m within the Jurassic Formations and encountered light oil mineralization in 2 intervals of the Sognefjord Formation with excellent petrophysical properties. The oil mineralized column in the two bodies is 30 m thick in the upper body and 50 m in the lower body for a total of 80 m in total. An intense data acquisition campaign including fluid sampling was conducted on the well.

Preliminary estimates indicate a volume of hydrocarbons in place between 150 and 240 million barrels.

After the recent announcement of the Isflak discovery in the Barents Sea, the Blasto discovery is a further confirmation of the success of the Infrastructure-Led exploration strategy that Vår Energy is also carrying out in the North Sea, aimed at the commercialization of additional high-value reserves. in the area of the Fram field.

The Blasto discovery will be framed in the development together with the nearby Echino Sud discovery (also located in PL090) with a link to the nearest infrastructure. In the course of 2021, further exploration activity is planned in the license.
