Separately from the closure of the Algeria investigation, communicated in recent days, the American Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) informed Eni that, based on the information currently available to the Commission, it concluded the investigation into the company, which also includes the investigations related to the Opl245 operation and other investigations related to Eni's activities in the Congo, without taking any action or proceedings.
Eni had already announced on 1 October last year that the US Justice Department had also closed its investigations into the Algeria and Opl245 affairs without taking any action.
Eni recalls that the Court of Appeal of the Court of Milan has made public in recent days the reasons for the acquittal sentence, pronounced last January, by Saipem and Eni from any accusation of corruption in the Algeria proceeding.
