Possibility of suspending up to 12 months the principal amount of the installments of the mortgages guaranteed by real estate and of the other installment repayment loans The ABI and consumer associations (Acu, Adiconsum, Adoc, Altroconsumo, Asso-Consum, Assoutenti, Cittadinanzattiva, Codacons, Confconsumatori, Consumer and User Protection Center, Federconsumatori, La Casa del consumer, Consumer League, Consumer movement, Defense movement del citizen, Udicon, National Consumers Union) have reached an agreement that expands support measures for families and self-employed workers and freelancers affected by the epidemiological event from Covid 19. It is a further initiative to support the financial sustainability of families .
The areas of intervention of the Agreement are:
- mortgages guaranteed by mortgages on non-luxury properties disbursed before January 31, 2020 to natural persons for the renovation of the mortgaged properties, liquidity or purchase of properties not used as main homes, which do not fall within the benefits provided by the Gasparrini Fund or although they are connected to the The purchase of the main house does not have the characteristics suitable for access by the Gasparrini Fund;
- unsecured loans guaranteed by installment repayment disbursed before 31 January 2020.
The suspension also includes any installments that have expired and are not paid after January 31, 2020. The suspension does not result in the application of any commission.
The amortization process resumes at the end of the suspension period with the corresponding extension of the amortization plan for a duration equal to the suspension period.
The events foreseen to be able to access the moratorium concern the termination of the employment relationship for any type of contract; suspension from work or reduction of working time for a period of at least 30 days; death or onset of conditions of non-self-sufficiency; the reduction of a third of the turnover caused by the epidemiological event for self-employed workers and freelancers.
The list of banks that will adopt the Agreement will be published on the ABI website together with the model of the application form to access the initiative.
The initiative is part of the collaboration between ABI and Consumer Associations and the "CREDIamoCI" Memorandum of Understanding, all in support of the country's economy and of the population groups most at risk of vulnerability.
