According to a spokesman for the Interior Ministry Najib Danish, a suicide bomber blew himself up near the airport in Kabul causing at least 11 dead and injured 14.

According to the story provided by Danish, the bomber had been identified by the police but he blew himself up before being stopped.

The attack took place a few minutes after the return to the country of the vice president, General Abdul Rasheed Dostum. The explosion occurred as a group of Dostum supporters gathered at the entrance to welcome him. Dostum, who returned to Afghanistan after 14 months of exile, had left the country in May 2017 before the start of a court case against him for the alleged kidnapping of a political opponent.
