Europe: "Gb divorce from the EU" - English voters fear a bad agreement, Europe the fall of the May government

A series of surveys published and commented yesterday by the newspaper "The Financial Times" highlight some aspects concerning "the divorce of Britain" from Europe: the majority of British voters continue to think that Brexit was the right decision to be taken . The favorable percentage, in fact, has remained stable over time. However, the number of those fearful grows that divorce from the EU ends up penalizing Britain. Since last February, the number of those who are convinced that Britain will be able to extract a good agreement for the post-divorce has suddenly precipitated; and the percentage of pessimists was particularly pronounced among those who, in the 2016 referendum in June, had voted in favor of Brexit.

A third survey by Survation shows that the fears of a bad deal with Europe are convincing a growing number of pro-Brexit to soften their opposition to a possible second referendum: half of them would be, a higher percentage so far registered, in agreement with a possible second popular consultation that puts to the vote the acceptance or not of the final agreement between Great Britain and Europe, on Brexit. The opposition to a possible second referendum has fallen to 34%.

From these data reported by the Financial Times, it is clear that the fluctuations in the public opinion seem to be influenced more by the difficulties of the negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union than by a real change on the fundamental convictions under which voters voted in the 2016 referendum.

According to the conservative newspaper "The Telegraph", the European Union fears that the government of British Prime Minister Theresa May may fall by next week if the Brexit negotiations remain blocked. Public confidence in its ability to conduct good negotiations on Brexit would be at an all-time low, in fact, only the 20% believes the government is doing a good job.

The 61% is convinced that things are going wrong.

The fear of the President of the European Commission Juncker, in fact, is that the May can be overthrown by a revolt of its own Conservative Party parliamentarians if it fails to get the start of negotiations on the commercial treaty after the divorce from Europe.
