Falcon 50 of the Air Force in flight from Cagliari to Ciampino to transport a child in danger of life

In the early afternoon of today, a 3-month-old girl, in imminent danger of her life, was urgently transported from Cagliari to Ciampino with a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31st Stormo of the Italian Air Force.

The aircraft, one of the assets of the Armed Forces ready 24 hours a day for this kind of need, by order of the Summit Situation Room of the Air Force Command, took off shortly after 24:14 local time from the Airport of Cagliari Elmas, with the little patient on board in a thermal cradle, accompanied by her parents and a medical team for health care during the flight.

The plane landed in Ciampino (RM) at approximately 15:10, where the child was transferred by ambulance to the Bambino Gesù hospital in Rome.

The emergency medical transport, as required by the procedures, was requested by the Prefecture of Cagliari, activated by the Policlinico Duilio Casula of Monserrato (CA) due to the critical health conditions of the child.

Missions of this type require maximum timeliness and the Air Force, through its flight departments, provides means and crews ready to take off 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, without interruption and able to operate in any weather condition. There are hundreds of interventions of this type every year by Air Force aircraft, vehicles that are always ready to take off and that have the ability to embark teams and specific medical and health equipment, such as thermal cradles, or even an ambulance with the patient on board, as in the case of the aircraft of the 46th Pisa Air Brigade.
