Farnesina to Italians in Ukraine: "leave the country by any means available"

Today marks the 78th anniversary of the Russian Victory over Nazism. In Moscow there will be the usual military parade to remember the fallen heroes of the Second World War.

In the VIP area next to Vladimir Putin will sit on display the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the premier of Armenia.

Even on this celebratory day, the Kremlin will concentrate on remembering the past by linking it to the Ukrainian Nazism of the present, thus justifying the ongoing special military operation. No mention should be made of the fallen in today's war (according to US intelligence sources, there are 40 dead and 100000 wounded).

In Kiev, President Volodymyr Zelensky compares today's Ukrainian heroism to the Russian heroism of World War II: “bows his head together with the entire civilized world, and remembering all the innocent lives destroyed by the Second World War he says "never again“. "We can do it again."

Meanwhile a rain of drones and missiles fell yesterday on Kiev, Kherson, Kharkiv, Odessa and Mykolaiv. The 36 Iranian-made drones flying menacingly over Kyiv have been shot down, Kyiv mayor Vitaly Klitchko said.

The evolution of the conflict forced the Farnesina to issue an alert: "increasingly heavy missile attacks continue to be recorded in Kiev and throughout the Ukrainian territory. The Italians present are advised to use the means still available, including trains, to leave the country immediately".

With yesterday's raids, the Russians wanted to hit Ukraine on the day they decided to celebrate the Victory over Nazism, together with the Western allies: May 8 and no longer May 9, which is the date on which it is celebrated in Moscow where at the time of the surrender of the Third Reich, signed in Berlin, it was already past midnight.

President Zelensky yesterday announced that he had established Europe Day, May 9, dedicated to peace and unity. He will be present for the celebrations Ursula von der Leyen. Tomorrow the 27 countries of the European Union will start the discussion on the new sanctions against Russia. This time, Chinese companies and nations that violate the restrictions already decided by exporting sanctioned goods and technologies to Russia which are then used by Moscow's war industry will be penalised.
