Leonardo Foundation - Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Minister for Technological Innovation and Digitization

Leonardo Foundation - Civilization of Machines and the Ministry of Technological Innovation and Digitization have signed a memorandum of understanding to define the ethical and legal context within which to develop and apply Artificial Intelligence (AI), with particular regard to the needs and activities of the Public Administration. Specifically, to develop a proposal for a "compliance code" for the implementation of AI in the public and private sectors, also in view of the definition of an ethical and legal sustainability certification system.

The document was signed on 17 February in Rome by the Minister for technological innovation and digitization, Paola Pisano and by the President of the Leonardo Foundation - Civilization of Machines Luciano Violante.

The protocol marks an important step in the Foundation's commitment to stimulate discussion initiatives on AI and raise awareness of the country's institutions on the impact and potential benefits of new technologies.

"As I mentioned at the presentation of the Italy 2025 plan," said Minister Pisano "artificial intelligence and big data are able to guide public decision-makers towards increasingly aware choices, efficiently managing a series of administrative procedures, especially if repetitive and with low discretion.

Designing, developing and testing artificial intelligence solutions, as long as they are ethical and always with man and his values at the center, and applying them to administrative procedures means giving modern implementation to the constitutional principles that want an efficient administration. It is not something that you can choose whether to do or not do, it is something that must be done and which can have great positive effects on the everyday life of citizens. "

"The collaboration with the Mid represents, for the Leonardo Foundation, the follow-up to the International Conference on the ethical and legal status of AI, held in November in the Chamber of Deputies, and a further commitment to modernize the country in the European context" President Violante affirmed in the margins of the signature.
