Lauretano Jubilee: issued the commemorative stamp of Our Lady of Loreto

On the centenary of the proclamation of Virgo Lauretana as Patroness of Aeronauts, the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) issued the celebratory stamp.

As part of the celebrations for the centenary of the Blessed Virgin of Loreto as "Patroness of the Aeronauts", among the various cultural, religious and charitable initiatives, the Air Force intended to commemorate the important event by requesting the Ministry of Economic Development ( MISE) the issue of a celebratory stamp, which was officially presented today.

The stamp, whose edition is 500 copies, is printed by the State Printing and Mint Institute. The sketch was created by Fabio Simonelli and reproduces in the foreground the logo of the Jubilee Lauretano flanked by the Air Force coat of arms and with the caption at the bottom "CENTENARY PROCLAMATION", also reporting the word "ITALY" and the tariff indication "B".

The "first day of issue" cancellation is available at the philatelic counter of the Rome VR post office - Piazza San Silvestro; at the Post Offices with a philatelic counter, the "Spazio Filatelia" of Florence, Genoa, Milan, Naples, Rome, Rome 1, Turin, Trieste, Venice, Verona and on the www.poste.it website it is possible to purchase the stamp.

The release of the philatelic issue on the occasion of the Lauretano Jubilee represents for the Air Force not only a symbol of heartfelt devotion to the "Patroness of the Aeronauts", but also a precious moment of reflection on the professionalism that such a complex activity such as flying requires: passion, attention and scrupulousness.

The centenary of the Proclamation of the Virgin Lauretana Patroness of the Aeronauts is an occasion to strengthen the bonds of closeness, friendship and willingness to collaborate among the people of the air, as well as, in such a particular moment, characterized by the emergency COVID-19 , a stimulus and testimony to the commitment of the Armed Force to serve the country and the community.

The relationship between the Madonna of Loreto and the aeronautical world dates back to 24 March 1920 when the Blessed Virgin Lauretana was officially proclaimed "Aeronautarum Patrona" by Pope Benedict XV, already venerated by aviators and by the Air Force, established as the Armed Force on 28 March 1923.
