UJ-22 drone

The Ukrainians fed up with being bombed for over a year dare to send some rudimentary drones with small explosive charges across the borders towards Russia. Affected some energy infrastructure, while a small drone - Ukrainian UJ-22 - it traveled over 600 km and then crashed about 100 km from Moscow.

In Moldova, hundreds of demonstrators from the pro-Russian party Sor took to the streets in Chisinau to demand the resignation of Maia Sandu's government, calling for early elections.

Russia

In Russia, a few hours before the drone attack, some hackers undermined television channels and radio stations in various regions of the country, spreading false alarms about imminent missile bombings. In the same hours it airspace over St. Petersburg it was closed to traffic for about an hour with no explanation being given. The Defense Ministry has announced that in the western region of the country, which includes the Baltic metropolis, exercises were held with some fighters that had taken off to intercept an unknown target.

The dramatic day had opened with the news spread by the Ukrainian media of two explosions in the Russian region of Krasnodar, on the Black Sea, in a refinery of Rosneft, the state oil giant of Moscow. According to the same sources, the explosions, which would have shattered the windows of some nearby buildings, would have been followed by a fire in the plant, located in the city of Tuapse. Only a few hours later from Moscow, the Defense Ministry again spoke of an attempted attack by two Ukrainian drones, stating that the electronic interception systems had caused them to fall far from the target.

The governors of the Belgorod and Bryansk regions, both bordering Ukraine, spoke of other unmanned aircraft from Kiev raining down on Russian territory or shot down by defense systems. But the drone "crashed" in the Kolomna region, just a hundred kilometers southeast of Moscow, gave emphasis to the news. 

President Vladimir Putin has called on the internal security services (FSB) to keep the borders with Ukraine under special control to prevent the infiltration of saboteur groups.

Also yesterday, Putin signed and promulgated the law which provides for Russia to suspend the New Start, the latest bilateral treaty with the United States on the limitation of nuclear weapons.

Moldova

Vadim Fotescu, a member of parliament from Sor asks that “neutrality is observed, as enshrined in the Constitution, to prevent the country from being dragged into war operations".

Il Action and Solidarity Party, now in government, has sounded the alarm about the umpteenth Russian attempt to destabilize the situation, already in the balance.

Recently it was President Sandu, taking pro-Western positions, who accused Russia of preparing a coup d'état in Chisinau to bring Moldova into her orbit. While Moscow denounces alleged plans by Kiev to artfully create a provocation, with a false Russian invasion from Transnistria to justify a Ukrainian attack on the secessionist territory of Moldova, where there are about 1.500 Russian soldiers.
