The Mipaaf joins the task force to combat illegal activities in the Land of Fires

The ICQRF, the technical control body of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, participates in a series of operations at various levels coordinated by the Prefectures of Naples and Caserta. The Inspectorate has in fact become part of the police forces in the field engaged in the "Land of Fires" since last month.

As part of the activities to combat the illicit combustion of waste in Campania, the teams of the ICQRF - Southern Italy have therefore been engaged in recent days for actions envisaged by the “Terra dei fuochi” control room. The planning of the interventions, in which the Police Headquarters, the Italian Army, the Guardia di Finanza, the State Police, the Carabinieri, the Municipal Police, the Local Health Authority and the ICQRF participate jointly, is handled by the person in charge of the Ministry of the Interior for combating the phenomenon of fires. in the Campania region and arranged by the two Prefects of Naples and Caserta within the respective powers of coordination of the Police Forces. The actions led to kidnappings, complaints and sanctions. The Inspectorate participates in particular to check the traceability and quality of agri-food products.

Most recently, the Inspectorate teams carried out an extraordinary control operation in the dairy supply chain. A buffalo farm, 5 dairies in the municipalities of Giugliano in Campania, Calvizzano, San Tammaro, Santa Maria Capua Vetere and a company sales point were checked. During the checks, samples of feed, mozzarella and buffalo milk caciocavallo were taken which will be analyzed to verify compliance with legal requirements. Furthermore, the presence of unpackaged fresh cheeses lacking the mandatory indications in the point of sale will be sanctioned with an administrative dispute.

Minister Stefano Patuanelli underlined the positivity of these initiatives, noting that “laboratory checks and analyzes are essential to verify the correct origin of the production chain and to protect the consumer on the quality of agri-food products. In fact, to support the primary sector both incentives and the repression of all those frauds that affect the high quality of our agri-food chain are necessary ”.
