Hamas leader: "We also against Italy". Interior Ministry: 400 more soldiers in the stations

Basem Naim, a doctor who studied in Germany, former Minister of Health of Gaza and today coordinator of logistics and ambassador abroad for Hamas, was interviewed by the Agorà program on Rai 3. In reference to the Italian position on the Israeli-Palestinian issue, he issued a warning : “It is a very serious mistake that transforms Italy into one of the parties to the aggression against our people. Israel today does not act alone. Israel acts on behalf of the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and unfortunately also Italy, which has sent some troops to the Mediterranean. How can we deal with all this? We can only say that the international community today bears the same responsibility as the Israelis for all the massacres committed every day against Gaza."

Last October 26, Naim was seen next to Mousa Abu Marzouk, head of international relations at Hamas, and the Russian deputy foreign minister with responsibility for the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov. Nairn lives between the Strip, Beirut and Doha in Qatar. Not only Naim's words but in-depth intelligence reports pushed the Italian government to tighten anti-terrorism measures. The number one danger is the lone wolves who could find inspiration to take action from the words of the political leader of Hamas, who has landed in Italy.

Among the various measures, the one just launched by the Interior Ministry stands out which concerns the use of another 400 Army soldiers, until December 31st, destined exclusively for the large railway stations. 105 soldiers will arrive in Rome while the others will be added to the numbers already present in Milan, Turin, Bologna, Verona, Venice, Florence, Naples, Bari, Palermo. In January the contingent will increase by approximately one thousand men to reach 6 thousand units to guard our cities.

Among the legislative measures being studied is a provision that would include the insertion of a new article in the penal code, relating to the "possession of material for terrorist purposes". And thus punish with severe penalties those who are found in possession of instructions on how to build explosives and weapons (including non-firearms) or on how to put essential public services at risk for terrorist purposes.

The executive thus intends to give more tools to the police and the judiciary to counter the action of any lone wolves. Because the rules in force punish - with sentences of up to ten years - those who keep weapons at home for the purposes of terrorism or democratic subversion, but they say nothing about those who are trying to build those weapons.

Anyone who obtains such information material for work or study purposes is not punished by the new rule, which however must be demonstrated.

The League is pushing to tighten security on mosques, in order to avoid infiltration. While just yesterday a 29-year-old who had illegally entered Sicily, in the Ragusa area, was repatriated to Tunisia and was reported by intelligence as being, as Minister Piantedosi notes, "probably intending to commit a hostile action on national territory".
