Leonardo, presents at Seafuture the new new generation systems and advanced capabilities for maritime safety

Leonardo participates as a protagonist at the sixth edition of "Seafuture", a show dedicated to the naval world, which will be held at the Italian Navy's Arsenal in La Spezia from 19 to 23 June. During the event, Leonardo will present some of its flagship products for maritime surveillance, including the AWHERO remote piloted helicopter.

Leonardo boasts an extensive portfolio of marine security and surveillance products, chosen in the last 50 years by more than 70 International marines to equip over 1000 naval units. Some of these solutions will also be visible on board the Fasan ship, the first FREMM class Italian frigate in ASW (Anti Submarine Warfare) configuration that will host a series of seminars in La Spezia, to which Leonardo will also take part, on the definition of naval technologies next generation.

Security and cyber security by design in the maritime context, resilience to electromagnetic attacks, interoperability with autonomous and unmanned systems, a new concept of services with a view to 4.0 logistics, are some of the fundamental criteria to which future naval technologies will have to answer and for which Leonardo offers innovative solutions, which will be presented during the event. Of particular relevance is the debate on strategies for a common European defense: here Leonardo will present the OCEAN2020 (Open Cooperation for European Maitime awareNess 2020) program, which he leads at the European level. Moreover, in the exhibition spaces, the company will present MORPHEUS, an immersive virtual reality solution for the training of the crews in operating and maintenance procedures, which uses a faithful representation of the equipment on board the ship.

Leonardo's offer in the naval sector

Leonardo's technologies allow a complete maritime domain awareness in all the dimensions of the maritime domain: from the underwater environment with advanced sensors, torpedoes and remote piloted vehicles, to the surface environment with naval and coastal surveillance and control systems and radars and maritime traffic management; from the air environment, with fixed and rotary wing aircraft supplied to maritime and coastal authorities for sea patrolling and search and rescue activities; up to the space sector with platforms and technologies for Earth observation. Leonardo is also able to design and implement combat and combat management systems for naval units of different sizes and missions. Leonardo's naval offering includes state-of-the-art command and control systems as well as radar and sensors for surveillance and systems to combat threats, both above and below the sea surface, as well as internal and external communication systems to the ship and to those for the identification of vessels.

The main characteristics that these solutions have in common are their duality, that is the use in both military and security contexts, as well as the ability to be integrated into units of any class, as well as being scalable and modular and therefore able to respond to modernization and refitting needs.
