Luigi Di Maio under attack. Who will benefit?

(by Massimiliano D'Elia) It is under the eyes of everyone that the vice premier and minister of labor Luigi Di Maio is under attack. The investigation reveals the presumed irregularities / defamation of Di Maio's family of origin in the management of family construction. We are talking about irregularities which, on ethical and moral level, are certainly debating, but leaving them "in watchmaking", in the most difficult moment of the Government, certainly does not benefit the country and the Italians. We are not talking about the mafia, the Camorra, billions of euros disappeared into nothing in favor of the banks but of irregularities, or crimes to prove the punishment, if anything there will be, could affect only the parents of the minister. So we're talking about nothing.

The only reflection of the whole story could be had within the Pentastellato Movement. The flag of the movement, but also of the yellow-green government is to fight illegality with no ifs and buts (see Casamonica housing demolition). During the election campaign and even today Luigi Di Maio represents for the Italians the change, the new. Di Maio himself, accompanied by the ever-present competitor Di Battista (always ready to enter the scene - he is the wild card of the movement) have railed far and wide against the PD (Boschi & Renzi) and against Salvini's League (fund issue Bossi & Belsito), showing everyone a clean image, the humble origins and the desire for redemption of those Italians who come from the people and who manage to enter the places of power to open them like a can of tuna.

The story of these days, on the other hand, casts some shadows on Di Maio's image and not a little disorientates the very ballet voters of the pentastellato movement to the benefit of Salvini's League. The hope is that the investigation will not hide further scabrous surprises, the effects of which, with indefinite outcomes, could lead to a real government crisis, or the implosion of the M5S (Di Maio to his fellow ministers: “if I fall, everyone will fall). Too bad that in the meantime Ecofin has agreed with the EU Commission to proceed with the infringement due to excessive deficit against Italy. The mediation work of Premier Giuseppe Conte, in these days in Buenos Aires for the G20 where he will have a 1 + 1 meeting with the president of the EU Commission Juan Claude Junker, was decisive.

The Inquiry

So the deputy premier and minister of work Luigi Di Maio: "For what I know, what happened this morning, there was an inspection by the traffic police in Mariglianella, a town of seven thousand souls in the province of Naples, in this campaign of my father where some materials like buckets, bins, a wheelbarrow, debris, a plexiglass cloth that is used to cover the materials of the countryside or of the construction site are being put under seizure and all the buildings are being checked. They are land of my father and sister, my aunt living in the north, and all they have to do will do it. I am here and I try to work for the Italians. I only think that after there have been press articles that have highlighted some concerns, the authorities, or the mariglianella brigade, have intervened ".

After the case of black workers, or partially blacks in the father's construction company, the seals of the land arrived yesterday. In Mariglianella, areas where inert waste had been deposited were seized and then four small, abusive, works pertaining to an old farm as a box with a sheet metal covering were ascertained. The results of the investigations were confirmed by the commander of the municipal police at the end of the inspection.

"In these days a minister who has not made any irregularities is being crucified", writes Undersecretary for Regional Affairs, Stefano Buffagni. "Children do not have to pay for the faults of their fathers. I am with Luigi Di Maio ".

A thesis that governs from the legal, but not moral, according to President Fdl Giorgia Meloni: "Go and explain to an entrepreneur from the Northeast who works 18 hours a day that will increase taxes to pay the income of citizenship to the father of Luigi Di Maio ".

The other vice premier Matteo Salvini intervenes: "I sent a message to Luigi Di Maio, against whom a media lynching is under way. I trust him. "

Antonio Di Maio, writes Il Mattino di Napoli, declares 88 euro of income only for land (where there are illegal buildings) and then returns that famous contest of Equitalia on a debt that someone has quantified in 172mila euro, but Antonio DI Maio is nots.

Il Giornale's investigation wrote that in 2000, Antonio Di Maio, Luigi's father, had bought two land in the municipality of Mariglianella. From the maps delivered in the Territory Agency database, it is the owner of only the two lands. But the anomaly appears by viewing the satellite extracts: in the two parcels of land (1309 and 811) owned by the Di Maio family there are some artifacts. Too many anomalies that prompted the brigade to carry out checks. Checks that fully confirmed the Journal's investigation. The procedure is clear: the Municipality will issue a demolition order which must be carried out in 90 days.

Also the Giornale brings into play the mother of vice-premier Luigi, Paolina Esposito. The owner of the Ardima building company was actually his mother, Paolina Esposito. Mrs. Di Maio, at the same time as she was at the helm of the company, was also a full-time teacher at the Imbriani in Pomigliano d'Arco. And a public employee hired full-time, just as certainly is a role teacher, is subject to the constraint of exclusivity and therefore to a series of prohibitions related to the exercise of other work activities.

Raising the question is Anna Ascani, a member of the Democratic Party who from her Facebook page points out that in the reconstruction of the story of the Di Maio company something does not come back. "The individual company, before becoming a Srl, merging into that of the brothers Luigi and Rosalba - writes Ascani on social media - was registered to the mother Pauline. The Ascani that follows the themes of the school world shows that Mrs. Esposito in those years was a teacher of Italian and Latin in a state school as she writes in her curriculum available online.

Meanwhile, the mother of Di Maio has moved and holds the role of head teacher at the San Giovanni Bosco comprehensive Institute in the province of Naples. But the law is very clear on the incompatibility. The 297 legislative decree of the '94 (which incorporates the 3 DPR of the' 57) establishes among other things that teachers, educational directors and principals can not 'engage in commercial, industrial and professional activities and assume and maintain jobs employed by private individuals.
