Meloni-Erdogan in Bali revitalize the 2018 agreement on the Italian-French-Turkish Samp-T system (missile defence)

During the G20 in Bali the bilateral meeting between Melons ed Erdogan appeared very cordial to the point that, as reported by the Agi, the agreement signed in 2018 between the Turkish defense companies seems to have been revitalized Aselsan e ROKETSAN with Eurosam (consortium which includes MBDA Italy, Mbda France e Thales). The basis of the agreement is the upgrade of the air defense system Samp-T - Sol-air Moyenne Portèe Terrestre.

It is a system already supplied by France and Italy but needs an important modernization which is required precisely by the Turkish defense industry which will have to integrate the apparatus with latest generation missiles and radars, such as those used in the very famous drones TB2 Bayraktar, which Ankara exports to 24 countries.

The Samp-T is used to counter air attacks, short-range ballistic missiles, rockets fired from short distances that require rapid reaction times.

The system enjoys great mobility, flexibility and rapid deployment and boasts the formidable ability to manage and report threats from a 360 degree arc.

The Italian armed forces have in stock  5 batteries of Samp-T missiles, deployed at the IV Mantua anti-aircraft artillery regiment, where they became operational starting from 2013.

The Turks will have to improve the capabilities of the Arabel 90 radar which will have to be able to locate, identify, track and track targets.

Turkish company Aselsan is expected to implement theenergy supply, with effect on the extension of the duration of the operations.

La ROKETSAN is called upon to supply latest-generation missiles, which will replace the 8-missile batteries Aster30 currently used, vertical launch missiles with terminal guidance a active seeker, i.e. capable of pursuing the goal. The last module is the land reloading unit, needed to load the missiles on the rocket launcher.
