The State Police of Naples, at the end of an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Naples North, carried out a precautionary custody order, (of which 6 in jail and 1 of the ban on residence), issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples North, against 6 men, aged between the 19 and the 26 years, and one woman, of years 25, domiciled in Giugliano in Campania (Na), for criminal association aimed at commissioning a series of crimes against property, aggravated robbery, aggravated and false personal injury.
The investigative activity originated following an aggravated robbery perpetrated, on 26 January 2018, at a branch of the Banco Popolare di Bari bank located in Giugliano in Campania (Naples) during which a criminal group, after having threatened the cashier with a utility knife, he removed the sum in cash of about 119.000 thousand euros.
During the investigations, carried out by the policemen of the Flying Squad and the Commissariat PS Giugliano-Villaricca, important investigative elements have been acquired about the existence of a stable organization dedicated to the commission of robberies against banking institutions.
Subsequent investigative developments have allowed us to reconstruct the roles and tasks of each of the current investigators who, according to the accusatory hypothesis supported by the GIP, are also considered authors of other criminal episodes:
1) robbery committed on November 7 2017 in Frattamaggiore (Naples), at the branch of the Banco Popolare di Bari bank, during which two people, one with a face misrepresented as a balaclava, forced the cashier to open the safe timed removing the sum of 73.mila euro;
2) robbery committed on February 6, 2018 in Succivo (Ce), at a branch of the bank Banca Popolare di Bari, during which four people - with threats and violence - immobilized employees and customers with plastic ties and , awaiting the timed opening of the safe, they removed the sum of about 127 thousand euros;
3) robbery committed on 3 May 2018 in Frattamaggiore (Na) at the branch of the bank Banco Popolare di Bari, during which two people - after entering the branch - simulating the possession of a gun, managed to seize, with a threat, only 50 euros, stealing it from a cashier;
4) robbery committed on May 14, 2018 in Naples at the branch of the Banco Popolare di Bari bank, during which two people - after entering the branch and simulating possession of a gun - threatened the employees and , waiting for the timed opening of the safe, they removed the sum of about 100 thousand euros;
5) attempted robbery committed on 24 May 2018 in Casalnuovo di Napoli (Na) at the branch of the bank Banco Popolare di Bari, during which a woman, with a face distorted by a wig and sunglasses - after entering the branch office - asked to open the door to allow access to her boyfriend. On this occasion, two men with distorted faces entered the branch and, with the threat of a cutter, immobilized customers and employees with plastic bands, ordering the manager to hand over the money stored in the safe to them. The robbery was not consummated as a policeman, free from duty, managed to put the robbers to flight;
6) robbery committed on 23 July 2018 in Casoria (Na) at the branch of the bank Banco Popolare di Bari, during which three people - after entering the branch - with a face distorted by a balaclava, immobilized the customers and the staff of the credit institution, taking possession of the sum of 6.640,00 euros. In the circumstance they forced the attendant to start the opening of the timed safe, failing in their intent as one of the customers managed to escape from the institute;
7) attempted robbery committed on 4 September 2018 in Naples / Vomero at the branch of the Banco Popolare di Bari credit institution, during which a person - after entering the branch - asked an employee to open the door to allow access to his accomplice. On this occasion, the two men ordered the director to hand over the money kept in the safe. Only the refusal opposed by the director with whom a scuffle was born made the robbers exist and they removed them aboard a motorcycle.
