The State Police of Palmi carried out this morning in Seminara (RC), Preganziol (TV), Cislago (VA) and Desio (MB), the measure of precautionary custody in prison for 3 subjects and the measure of house arrest for 1 subject , suspected, at the state of the proceedings in the preliminary investigation phase and subject to different assessments in the subsequent phases, of the crime of aggravated sexual violence against two minors originating from the Piana di Gioia Tauro.
The precautionary measure was issued last October 31st by the GIP at the Court of Palmi, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Palmi - directed by the Prosecutor Emanuele Crescenti.
Personnel from the Reggio Calabria Flying Squad, from the detached police stations of Gioia Tauro, Villa San Giovanni, Polistena, Cittanova and Taurianova, from the Treviso, Varese and Monza Brianza Flying Squads, and with the support of the Department crews also participated in the operation. Crime Prevention of Siderno, Rende and Vibo Valentia.
The investigative information activity, carried out also thanks to telephone and environmental interceptions, led to the belief that the three young people, all linked by kinship to various top exponents of 'Ndrangheta gangs, and another subject, linked by kinship ties to a local administrator, committed group sexual violence against the two minor girls, repeated against one of the victims and at least on one occasion against the other, which occurred between summer 2022 and the current year. During the activity carried out, it also emerged that the young people also carried out activities aimed at identifying other possible victims.
At the same time as the execution of the 4 precautionary measures, the State Police personnel executed 16 personal and home search decrees against 16 suspects for the same crime in collaboration with each other, of which 4 were minors, during which they were several electronic, IT and mobile telephone devices seized.
