Pakistan, suicide attack in Peshawar. 13 dead and over injured 50

a suicide attack occurred last night in Peshawar, Pakistan, during a rally that killed at least 13 people and over 50 were injured, some in a very serious way.

The attack occurred when Bilour, a leader of the NPC, a Pashtun nationalist party, took the stage to contest the outcome of the elections for the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Peshawar college. The politician was seriously injured, taken to hospital and died shortly after from the serious injuries sustained.

According to what was reported by the NPC militants who survived the attack reported that a kamikaze blew himself up as soon as Haroon Bilour arrived at the demonstration. A bomb squad officer intervened on the spot said that "it was a suicide attack and the probable target was Bilour".

Haroon Bilour was the son of Bashir Bilour, the former governor of the province, who also died in a suicide attack in Peshawar in September 2012 during a rally before the general elections. The PNA, a secular and progressive party has always been the target of several extremist movements with a toll of 500 militants and some leaders killed before the 2013 elections. The attack could be the work of the militants of the Tehrik and Taliban Pakistan (TTP) party which has declared war on the PNA for its open and anti-Taliban ideas, but so far no claims have come for last night's attack.
