Italian Air Force Pilot: despair in the eyes of children. Isis and al Qaeda in the crowd at Kabul airport

Il Interoperable Summit Operations Command of the Defense is coordinating the phases of the operation Eagle Omina, to bring Italian staff and Afghan collaborators back to Italy (over 2000 have been transported to date). In all there are 8 planes ofair Force engaged in this difficult mission which since last August 15 have formed the backbone of the airlift which is one of the most difficult in modern history.

One of the pilots of the KC-767 of our Air Force told askanews: "We are on the KC-767 Alfa of the fourteenth Wing of the Italian Air Force. We have on board 100 passengers of Afghan origin, arrived in Kuwait via the air bridge from Kabul, thanks to the C-130J aircraft of the 46 ^ Air Brigade of Pisa, subsequently embarked on the 767 with destination Rome Fiumicino where we estimate to land in about three hours . On board the aircraft there are many families, many women, many children: we certainly saw in their eyes the desperation of leaving their homes, their country. But they certainly understand the opportunity given to them by Italy to find a better future and to find, precisely through this transport, a new clue. In the eyes of the children we have certainly seen the greatest difficulties: there are more confused results. In our own small way we have tried by supplying small sweets and games on board, to alleviate their suffering and we have also certainly recognized their happiness in receiving these small gestures ”.

Danger Isis and al Qaeda at Kabul airport

US weapons in the hands of the Taliban. The Taliban may have taken possession not only of American small arms, such as assault rifles and machine guns, and of Humvee armored vehicles, as shown by several images, but also of several Black Hawk helicopters and about twenty A-29 Tucano fighter jets. , as well as other heavy weapons and millions of ammunition. This is the concern of the Pentagon and US national security, according to reports from the CNN citing defense sources. In these hours we are taking stock of the lost military equipment.

Danger Isis and al Qaeda. Yesterday the Pentagon reiterated that in Afghanistan there remains a presence of both al Qaeda and ISIS. According to American intelligence sources, ISIS could send its cells to carry out massacres intended to transform the Taliban victory into its propaganda triumph. The moderate Taliban elements, interested in demonstrating their ability to control the country, would in turn be weakened in favor of the more extremist factions. The approach of the twentieth anniversary of the attacks of 11 September 2001 also represents a strong incentive for Al Qaeda to strike in order to claim the continuity of the movement and its capacity to resist.

The US Department appeals. "American citizens are advised not to go to the airport, stay away from the access to the terminal, and wait for our instructions on how to transport them".

Afghan social media and the Tolo Tv broadcaster report that several Western citizens, as well as hundreds of high Afghan dignitaries with passes, gathered at the Serena hotel in the city center and within the walls of a newly abandoned military base in an attempt to form convoys and, in coordination with US soldiers at the airport, reach the runways.
