The State Police of Caserta, this morning, as part of a broader strategy aimed at combating the accumulation of the proceeds of criminal activities by criminal organizations operating in the province of Caserta, carried out, through investigators of the Anti-Crime Division of the Police Headquarters and of the Central Anti-Crime Service, a decree of seizure of assets issued, pursuant to the anti-mafia legislation, by the Court - Prevention Measures Section of S. Maria CV (President Casella, drafter Balato) on a proposal formulated by the Police Commissioner of the province of Caserta, against of a person, already definitively convicted by the Court of Appeal of Naples for criminal association aimed at aiding and abetting illegal immigration and considered socially dangerous by the Court that issued the seizure, as he was suspected of belonging to a mafia association and a person who "habitually lives, even partially, on the proceeds of criminal activities".
The provision, which concerns two real estate units, four companies with associated capital goods, various financial and banking relationships, cars and a boat for a total value of approximately 1,5 million euros, represents the epilogue of a complex and detailed investigation which made it possible to reconstruct the patrimonial and financial asset in the direct and indirect availability (through his family members) of the proposed person, who is believed to have been acquired with the proceeds of illicit activities committed over time.
In order then to reveal the illicit origin of the significant assets accumulated by the proposed person and his family unit, copious documentation was acquired, with reference to the last twenty years, including contracts for the purchase and sale of assets, company shares as well as numerous other documents public reports that have affected the entire family unit investigated over time, then verifying, for each transaction, the related financial movements underlying the creation of the necessary economic provision. The material thus found was the subject of detailed investigations of a patrimonial nature which made it possible to ascertain, at the stage of the proceedings, that a large part of the activities and assets which became available to the proposed person and his close relatives were acquired with proceeds, obtained thanks to the close contiguity of the proposed with the criminal gang called "Belforte clan" active in the municipality of Marcianise and neighboring territories.
During the execution phase, the operators made use of the anti-currency dog unit of the Guardia di Finanza as well as the veterinary service of the Caserta Local Health Authority.
