This is what the former Iranian ambassador to Qatar, Abdullah Suhrabi claims, during an interview with the newspaper 'Jaam-e Jam'. "The information we have from Qatar tells us that the prince, the Emir, wants to withdraw from the CCG following the Gulf crisis, but has not yet taken this decision on the advice of his advisors," said the diplomat. Suhrabi also said Doha has been trying to resume relations with Tehran for the past eight years and that last year it reluctantly followed Saudi Arabia in recalling its ambassador. The diplomat recalled that when Doha took over the presidency of the CCG in 2007, he invited former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the summit of the Gulf countries, despite opposition from other member states. Suhrabi then stated that Iran has decided to reopen the Qatari embassy in Tehran ”to stabilize its national security.
