“Concrete step to realize development opportunities”
A fruitful meeting between the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara and the President of Anci Antonio Decaro took place today at the Ministry headquarters. The discussion focused on the needs posed by the Anci with respect to the deadlines and the updating status of the PNRR, and produced a full agreement on the following points:
- On the plan for nursery schools and kindergartens, having taken note of the delays accumulated previously, the Minister implemented the requests of ANCI and it was agreed to postpone the internal deadline from 31 March 2023 to 31 May 2023. However, it was agreed the commitment to evaluate the opportunity of extending the European milestone of 30 June, again in collaboration with the European institutions.
- In terms of safety measures, the Minister implemented the requests of ANCI and undertook to fix the terms by decree by 15 September 2023.
- With reference to the auction rebates, having received ANCI's requests, the Minister undertakes to evaluate a regulatory proposal that allows their application also to existing projects.
- As regards the safety and redevelopment of school facilities, the Minister announced the possibility of implementing an ambitious and significant plan on school construction in the short term.
“I am very satisfied with the constructive dialogue with President Decaro and with the Italian Municipalities” – declared Minister Valditara -. “The great Alliance for Schools and for Merit that I launched, and in which I strongly believe, can only have among its privileged interlocutors the closest institutions, closest to the daily needs of territories and families. From this point of view, today we are taking the first significant and concrete step on a path that intends to fill the delays accumulated from previous experiences and optimize the development possibilities offered by the PNRR as much as possible".
“We had a positive meeting with Minister Valditara – commented Antonio Decaro – during which we examined the progress of the PNRR projects for nursery schools and kindergartens entrusted to the implementation of the Municipalities. In the light of the meeting, as ANCI we are confident that the right path has been taken for the realization of such important works for our fellow citizens. It will be important to continue the path of full collaboration between the institutions to verify the implementation of the projects and to address the issues that arise from time to time".
