RFI, Lazio: works on the Orte –Fiumicino Airport line

Investment of almost two million euros and traffic suspended from 19 to 21 August between Rome Ostiense and Fiumicino Airport

From Friday 19 to Sunday 21 August Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Group) will carry out maintenance and infrastructural upgrading works on the FL1 line, Orte - Fiumicino Airport.

The works include the demolition of the current masonry bridge, which is located near the Parco Leonardo stop, and the construction of a new, wider one, which will improve the flow of rainwater. To carry out the work, approximately 80 technicians from RFI and contractors will be involved in the construction site every day, 24 hours a day.

Total investment of approximately 1,2 million euros.

At the same time, another intervention will be made on a second bridge, located near the Ponte Galeria station. The activities will be preparatory to new works, scheduled for 2023, which will allow freight trains with heavier loads than the current ones to circulate along the line.

Total investment of approximately 700 thousand euros.

To allow the construction sites to be fully operational, in those days the railway line will be interrupted between Rome Ostiense and Fiumicino Airport and the Leonardo express service will be suspended. Guaranteed replacement buses.
