The pro-Russian rebels will not attend the Congress for National Dialogue

The Syrian opposition, formed by a National Coalition supported by Turkey, "will not participate in any negotiations with the regime outside the framework of Geneva (...) and without the patronage of the United Nations". His spokesman Ahmed Ramadan gave the news.

The unexpected news was given to announce that the Coalition will not attend the "Congress for National Dialogue" convened by Moscow and scheduled for the next November 18 in Sochi. The congress aims to bring President Bashar's regime to Assad and opposition representatives in addition to the Syrian Kurds, who are considered to be "terrorists" by Ankara.

Last Tuesday, two days of negotiations ended in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, which led to the announcement of the arrival in Sochi of 33 delegations: a list that includes the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Forces (SDF) supported by Washington and the Syrian Opposition Committee for High Negotiations, the umbrella organization comprising various opposition groups.

Today, however, Yehya al Aridi, spokesman for this same Committee that represents the opposition to the Geneva negotiations, said that the convening of Moscow "is a bad joke proposed by the regime, in collaboration with Russia". For al Aridi, “on Russia he wants to impose the factions of the opposition fabricated by the regime”.
