Iranian President Hassan Rohani has made it known that Iran will not bow to US pressure following new sanctions imposed on Valiollah Seif, governor of the Iranian central bank, against an Islamic bank registered in Iraq and three other individuals.
These are the words of the president published by the Iranian news agency ISNA: "They think they can make the Iranian nation surrender by putting pressure on Iran, with sanctions and even threats of war, the Iranian nation will resist American plots".
The words of the Iranian president are echoed by those spoken by Bahram Qasemi, a spokesman for the foreign ministry, who today added that these measures are an attempt to derail efforts to save the Iranian nuclear deal and prevent other signatories from respecting it after the US withdrawal announced last week.
