The third volume of the series that celebrates the centenary of the Air Force will be presented at the XXIX Edition of Romics
The "Return of the Heroes" is the title of the third volume of the comic series "100 years of Aeronautica Militare in comics", created by the Historical Office of the Armed Forces to pay homage to the aviators of yesterday and today in view of the centenary of AM, which will be presented on Sunday 9 October 2022 at the 29th edition of Romics - International festival of comics, animation, cinema and games.
The "100AM" comic series is one of the numerous projects put in place by the Arma Azzurra to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of its foundation, which took place on March 28, 1923.
There are 12 graphic novels that will be gradually published over the next few months to spread the values and aeronautical culture in the area and bring the youngest ones closer to the Armed Force. Precisely with this in mind the idea of a series of comic books was born that makes use of emerging authors, screenwriters, designers, colorists and cover artists, to aim at the generation of the so-called millennials, thanks to the technique of the graphic novel, telling characters and events that characterized the Air Force in its first 100 years of life.
After the presentation at the 28th edition of Romics of the first two volumes of the series - "Ali su El Alamein" and "In volo per la vita" - the comic "The return of the Heroes" starts right in the Hall of Heroes of Palazzo Aeronautica ( Rome), where the young Air Force wanted to celebrate, by placing their portraits there together, some of the aviators who had given their lives, in war but above all in peacetime, for the homeland and for aeronautical progress. In a timeless “son et lumière”, the aviators immortalized in the paintings hanging on the walls come back to life to tell two young patrol guards how they sacrificed their lives, carrying out their duty and following their passion. The Hall of Heroes is the subject of this metatemporal tale which is built on real events to remind us that heroism and fatality are children of fate and courage in an incredible intertwining whose main actors are those who in every time and in every place they have done, they do and they will do their duty by flying among the clouds.
The Art Director of the 9AM series, Francesco Archidiacono, the author and screenwriter of the comic, will be present at the presentation event, which will be held on Sunday 14.00 October from 14.50 to 5 in Romics City - Hall 100 - Palco Movie Village, Paolo Nurcis, the cover artist, Giovanni Panarello, and Andrea Frittella, designer who participated in the creation of other volumes of the 100AM series.
During the exhibition, the forthcoming volumes will also be presented by the authors and designers: “Incursori” and “Fulco!”.
