With reference to the article published yesterday by "Il Tempo" with the title "Hidden the true infections at school", the Ministry of Education makes it known that it considers the accusations of the newspaper very serious and false.
No data was ever hidden. The information on infections in the school environment, collected thanks to the fruitful collaboration of school managers, has always been promptly provided, week by week, to the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, for appropriate assessments and for their use. A sharing of information also reported through official press releases of the Ministry of Education, evidently escaped the analysis of "Il Tempo".
As is known, the collection of data relating to infections, of any field, is the responsibility of the health authorities. The work carried out by the Ministry of Education has provided further support for the analysis of the epidemiological situation in the school sector, even when the local health authorities have experienced more difficulties with the archiving and categorization of data.
Finally, it is recalled that the epidemiological analysis should always be carried out with the utmost caution and entrusted to experts, to avoid conveying inaccurate, if not incorrect, messages.
