The Ordinances on State Exams of the first and second cycle of Education are ready, which will be sent on Monday to the Superior Council of Public Education for the opinion required before their issue.

The Ordinances define the June examinations, taking into account the health emergency and its impact on school and country life. For both the first and second cycle, the exam will be based on an oral test that will start with the discussion of a paper.

"The exam will allow students to express what they have gained during their years of study". Underlines the Minister of Education, Professor Patrizio Bianchi. "Students, through their paper, which can be a text, but also a practical test or a multimedia product, will be able to demonstrate what they have learned and understood, their ability to think critically and express themselves. The exam - the Minister continues - it must be conceived as the right of all female students and all students to be evaluated on the basis of the school activities carried out throughout their course. Taking into account the difficulties experienced during the health emergency".

Students will be followed step by step from the assignment of the subject of the paper to its discussion in front of the commission.

The first cycle exam

The exam includes an oral exam starting from the discussion of a paper on a topic that the class councils will assign, taking into account the personal characteristics of each student and each student, by 7 May. The paper will be sent to the commission by 7 June. The teachers will follow the individual students, suggesting the most suitable form of paper and accompanying them during the drafting. The paper can be written, in multimedia form, can be an artistic or technical-practical production and involve one or more disciplines. The final grade remains in tenths. Praise will be obtained. Admission to the exam will be decided by the class council. Participation in the Invalsi national tests, which will be held in any case, will not be a requirement for access. As for the attendance requirement, foreseen for three quarters of the individual timetable, the teaching colleges will be, as required by law, to introduce any exceptions, taking into account the specific situations also due to the pandemic emergency.

The second cycle exam

The Exam session will start on June 16th. The exam includes an oral interview, starting with the presentation of a paper that will be assigned by the class councils, on the basis of the path taken. The paper will cover the disciplines characterizing the field of study, which can also be integrated with contributions from other disciplines, experiences related to the Pathways for transversal skills and orientation or individual skills present in the student's curriculum. Admission to the exam will be decided by the class council.

As for the final exams of the first cycle, participation in the Invalsi national tests, which will in any case be held, will not be a requirement for access, and it will be the educational institutions that will establish any exceptions to the attendance requirement, foreseen for three quarters of the individual timetable. . There is also an exception to the amount of time provided for the Pathways for transversal skills and orientation, which is not an entry requirement. The academic credit will have a weight up to a maximum of 60 points, 40 for the oral one. The final mark remains in hundredths and it will be possible to obtain honors. The commission will be internal, with the external President.

The interview will start from the paper prepared by the candidates. The subject of the paper will be assigned to each student and each student by the class council by April 30th. Each teacher will follow a group of students. Girls and boys will be accompanied during the construction of their paper, which must be delivered to the reference teacher by May 31st. The paper may have the most varied form, in order to take into account the specificity of the different study fields, the planning of the scholastic institutions and the characteristics of the student in order to enhance the peculiarities and the personalized path taken. After the discussion of the paper, the oral exam will continue with the analysis of a text already studied in the teaching of the Italian language and literature. As last year, the materials (a text, a document, a problem, a project) prepared by the commission will then be analyzed. The experiences carried out in the Pathways for transversal skills and orientation will be presented in the paper or during the interview. In conducting the interviews, the information contained in the student's curriculum will be taken into account, which includes the academic career, but also the activities carried out in other areas, such as sports, volunteering, cultural activities.
