Beekeeping sector: the decree that unlocks two million signed by Minister Bellanova

“An important measure, with which today we make 2 million available for Italian beekeeping. A fundamental sector for our agriculture, with important productive, economic and social repercussions, and for the ecosystem balance. But a particularly sensitive sector, exposed as it is to the risks of pollution, climate change, unfair competition and fraud ".
So the Minister Teresa Bellanova after the signing of the Decree that unlocks resources for 2 million, earmarking them to finance, through a selective procedure with public evidence, projects of particular environmental, economic, social and employment importance that will have to guarantee repercussions at national level.
"Just yesterday, during the hearing in the Senate," continued Minister Teresa Bellanova, "significant numbers of this sector have been pitted, which places our country fourth on a European scale, and has been emphasized as beekeeping both for reads activities of national interest. An activity threatened by climate change and also by food fraud and which we must instead be able to support, protect and enhance. For this reason, I consider important the wide range of projects that the Decree contemplates, including the possibility of launching promotional projects aimed at enhancing honey as a natural food, highlighting the link with the production areas ".
TECHNICAL NOTES
Two million euro for the realization of projects in the beekeeping sector to support productions and farms of particular environmental, economic, social and employment importance.
Three lines of action are envisaged:
- Extraordinary projects of national importance, of research and experimentation, strictly aimed at supporting and improving production, with particular reference to genetic improvement and the ability to adapt to climate change.
- Experimental projects of national importance aimed at the composition of insurance products for sustainable risk management in the beekeeping sector, by identifying the parameters necessary for the development of an experimental insurance product, which respects the rules of access to the National Insurance Plan (PAN) Extraordinary projects , of national importance, of institutional promotion aimed at enhancing honey as a natural food, through the dissemination of knowledge on the nutritional, scientific and organoleptic characteristics of honey, including the different types of honey and the links with the territories of origin, as well as the role employment and social experience of the beekeeper.
The MIPAAF will assign the resources through a special selective public procedure in which they can participate:
- public research institutes, universities, bodies governed by public law and subject to prevailing public participation;
- associations, foundations, consortia, companies, including in cooperative form of sole proprietorships;
- an aggregation, in the forms permitted by current legislation, even temporary, of two or more of the subjects identified in letter a) and letter b).
The resources will be able to finance up to 100% of the costs foreseen in the approved projects.
The results of the projects will be made accessible to all interested parties through appropriate dissemination work.
