In the province of Turin, a train hit and killed five workers who were working on the tracks. Two others were injured. The accident occurred shortly after midnight near the Brandizzo railway station.

The train was traveling at 160 kilometers per hour and the five victims are being identified. The two wounded would not have been hit by the convoy. The workers were at work for a company that was carrying out replacement work on a few meters of track near the station and the train was a technical convoy, which was carrying wagons from Alessandria to Turin on the conventional Turin-Milan line.
