In recent months, the relatives of an over-nineteen year old turned to the State Police to report how, for two or three years, unknown criminals were stealing cash and jewelery from the house of her aunt, who lived alone in an apartment in the center of Pescara .
The case, immediately underlined by the Flying Squad, revealed, from the first statements collected by a niece of the woman, how the old woman had fallen into the hands of an unscrupulous swindler.
In fact, according to the testimony gathered by the investigators, for some time a stranger, who was pretending to be a technician sent by the condominium administrator, used to show up at the old woman's house, managing to get money. Over the years, the woman, on several occasions, would have poured approximately 25 euros into the hands of the self-styled technician.
The investigators watched the video footage of the video surveillance system installed in the victim's home, noting that the unknown evildoer, after greeting her with kisses and hugs, of which he had evidently managed to gain the trust, once he entered the house, distracted the woman went to the bedroom where she opened the safe with her key, rummaging inside; similarly, it was ascertained that the same was used to rummage in the old woman's closets and handbag.
At the beginning of last February, a social welfare worker who had gone to the house, as she occasionally used to do, was able to surprise the landlady while she was about to hand over the sum of 1500 euros into the hands of the stranger, who first he justified asserting that he had done some work on the hot water boiler, to then escape without taking the money that the old woman, at the man's request, had just taken from the bank.
In this circumstance it was considered appropriate to involve personnel from the local Cabinet of Scientific Police, which following an inspection, was able to exalt some fragments of imprint left by the man near the hot water boiler, touched shortly before to simulate the technical intervention .
Subsequent dactyloscopic investigations made it possible to trace the identity of the criminal, identified for BG, 55 years, a native of the province of Teramo but resident in Pescara, a repeat offender and burdened by numerous precedents for crimes against property, which was recognized in the photograph that the agents of the "crime section against the patrimony" of the Flying Squad showed the eyewitness of the last attempted scam.
On the basis of the elements thus presented by the police, the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Pescara, in the person of Sost. Proc. Dr. Salvatore Campochiaro, disputing the crime of theft and fraud continued, aggravated by having taken advantage of conditions of minor defense of the po, due to old age, required the Office of the GIP to adopt the precautionary measure.
The Judge for Preliminary Investigations, dr. This morning the Mobile Squad agents therefore implemented the provision thus arranged, arresting the man who was associated with the local District Court at the disposal of the GA.
